    A minha obra, “O Polvo”, ilustra um dos peixes do Sermão de Santo António, do Padre António Vieira, recorri ao uso de aguarela sobre o papel próprio de tintas aquosas.

    Comecei por estudar as características físicas e psicológicas do Polvo, já que no sermão, o mesmo apresenta um carácter maldoso. Escolhi optar, maioritariamente, por uma paleta cromática fria, pois falamos de um peixe que vive no fundo do mar. No Sermão de Santo António o Polvo é traiçoeiro, dissimulado, falso, acha-se o “rei” do mar, Padre António Viera a judas, parece um monge. Comecei por usar cores quente como a coroa com o símbolo de Judas, pois no Sermão polvo é tido como um ser pior que Judas. Outra referência a Judas é o Polvo a apunhalar a Bíblia, como Judas traiu Jesus.O manto que o Polvo veste serviu para deixá-lo mais humano.O sermão serviu de crítica para o povo da época, seguindo a ordem, o manto era para também referir que o mesmo parece um nobre. A máscara vestida significa a falsidade que o Polvo tem, o facto da expressão da máscara estar diferente da expressão da cara do Polvo é para mostrar que ele é dissimulado e ambicioso.

    Por Fim, acho que deveria ter juntado e representado mais características na pintura como hipocrisia, disfarce, pois trata-se de um Polvo

    In my Art, The Octopus, illustrating one of the fishes from Father António Vieira Sermon of Saint Anthony, I used watercolor on paper for aqueous paints.     For a start, i studied the physical and psychological characteristics of the octopus, as in the sermon, is depicted as malicious. I chose to primarily use a cool color palette, as we're talking about a fish that lives at bottom of the sea. In the Sermon of Saint Anthony, octopus is treacherous, deceitful, false, sees itself as the “king” of the sea, compared to Judas, and resembles a monk. In my Art, I started with warm colors like the crown with the symbol of Judas, as in the Sermon, the octopus is described as worse than Judas. The mantle that the octopus wears was used to make it appear more human, as the sermon served as criticism for the people of that time. Following the order, the mantle was also meant to imply that it resembles a monk. The mask worn represents the deceitfulness of the octopus, and the fact that the expression on the mask is different from the expression on the octopus's face is to show that it is deceitful and ambitious.     In the end, I feel like I should have included and represented more characteristics in the painting, such as hypocrisy and disguise, as it is about an octopus.
