    Este trabalho foi realizado no âmbito das disciplinas de Português, Inglês e Desenho A, com o objetivo de ilustrar o Sermão de Santo António aos peixes da autoria de Padre António Vieira.

    Para o tema do meu desenho, escolhi o peixe rémora, um dos elementos recetores de elogio no sermão devido às suas virtudes. É exaltada por Vieira devido à grandiosa força que possui, capaz de determinar a direção de uma nau, apesar do seu pequeno porte. Assim dito, decidi retratar este mesmo poder na mulher, que, embora considerada inferior por longos anos e ainda atualmente, contém um poder e vigor semelhante ao que é descrito existir na Rêmora. Portanto, para a representação deste conceito, comecei pelo rascunho de uma mulher, de aparência comum. Inicialmente, tive indecisões quanto à ação que esta mulher deveria tomar. Entre um barco vazio ou um barco ocupado por um homem, acabei por desenhar esta última, visto que a capacidade da mulher de levantar um homem traz um caráter mais simbólico à força que desejava demonstrar.

    Feito o rascunho, parti para a pintura do desenho com recurso a aguarela. O cenário quase impossível que utilizei da figura a levantar um barco enquanto está numa rocha em alto mar teve, como fim, a utopia da igualdade da mulher na sociedade, onde esta não é desprezada ou submissa mas sim equivalentemente capaz ou até mais do que o homem. Tendo isto em conta, utilizei cores que remetem ao mundo onírico e sublime, tons de amarelo e laranja para representar o pôr do sol, laranjas que foram usados para pintar o vestuário juntamente com rosa, destacando o surreal e o sublime da personagem. Acima desta, encontra-se o barco anteriormente mencionado e a personagem masculina, que tenta estabilizar-se sob a potência da mulher. As cores presentes neste elemento são mais escuras e sombrias, permitindo a entrada da realidade oposta à pintura em que a mulher encontra-se sujeita, onde o homem sobrecarrega a mulher em todos os aspetos sociais. Seguindo o término da pintura dos elementos principais, adicionei os peixes que foram anteriormente referidos em volta da cena, nomeadamente as rémoras, o toque final à minha ilustração. De índole quase simbólica, serviram como uma metáfora a outras mulheres, em pequeno tamanho, contudo agarradas ao barco e celebrando o poder da mulher.

    Tendo em conta tudo o que referi acima, penso ter sido um trabalho agradável, possibilitando a interligação de disciplinas de forma discreta e facilmente trabalhável.

    This work was done as part of the Portuguese, English and Art subjects, with the aim of illustrating St. Anthony's Sermon to the Fish by Father António Vieira.

    For the theme of my drawing, I chose the remora, or sometimes called suckerfish, one of the elements praised in the sermon for its virtues. It is praised by the author for the great strength it possesses, capable of determining the direction of a ship, despite its small size. That said, I decided to portray this same power in women, who, although considered inferior for many years and even nowadays, contain a power and vigor similar to that described in the remora. So, to represent this concept, I started with the sketch of an ordinary-looking woman. Initially, I was uncertain as to what action this woman should take. Between an empty boat or a boat occupied by a man, I ended up drawing the latter, since the woman's ability to lift a man brings a more symbolic character to the strength I wanted to demonstrate. Once the sketch was done, I started painting it, resorting to watercolor paint. The nearly impossible scenario I used of the figure lifting a boat while standing on a rock in the open sea was intended to represent the utopia of women's equality in society, where they are not despised or submissive, but equally capable or even more so than men. With this in mind, I used colors that refer to the dreamlike and sublime world, shades of yellow and orange to represent the sunset, oranges that were used to paint the clothing along with pink, highlighting the surreal and sublime of the character. Above her is the aforementioned boat and the male character, who is trying to stabilize himself under the power of the woman. The colors in this element are darker and more somber, allowing us to step into the opposite reality of the painting in which the woman is subjected, where the man burdens the woman in all social matters.

    Following the completion of the painting of the main elements, I added the previously mentioned fish around the scene, namely the remoras, the final touch to my illustration. Almost symbolic in its origin, they stand as a metaphor for other women, small in size, yet clinging to the boat and celebrating the power of women.

    Considering all of this, I believe it was an enjoyable piece of work, allowing the interlinking of different subjects in a discreet and easily approachable way.
